In 1884 Bettmann founded his own company and his products were bicycles. In 1886 the company was known as Triumph Cycle Company. Later it is known as New Triumph Co. Ltd.
In 1889 the company started to produce the first Triumph branded bicycles. He planned to produce company branded motorcycles in 1898. Later in 1908, the company produced their first motor cycle a bicycle fitted with a Belgian built engine. They began their own designs of motorcycles. In 1905 they produced their first completely in house designed motor cycle. In the end of the year they produced more than 250 of the same design. Later in 1907 the company’s production reached 1000 bikes. Also they launched second, lower-end brand, Gloria. During the World War I the company proved a boost for the company for more production. The first modern motorcycles were supplied to the Allies where more than 30000 motorcycles were sold. They replaced the bicycle production to the automobiles. They produced a saloon car in 1923 under the name of Triumph Motor Company. For their latest motorbike Harry Ricardo produced an engine. Triumph models were manufactured under license. During the World War II, the motorcycles were produced in Coventry. One the Triumph’s wartime are portable generators for the RAF using 500 cc triumph engines with alloy barrels. Another motorcycle based on the wartime generator engine is 499cc TR5 Trophy twin. Their rivals were BSA. The triumph motorcycle was sold to them by Sangster in 1951. Sangster became the member of BSA board. In the 1960s the triumph production was exported upto 60% along with the BSA’s 80% exports. The three line cylinder is the original engine is absolutely grandiose. It was one of the most delightful engines in current production. The engine is perfectly at ease and just let’s slips the occasional roar. 2007 is the big year for the Tiger fans. They are releasing the brand new Triumph Tiger 1050.
